Tangarire National Park, Tanzania

The Tarangire River is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals during the annual dry season in the Tarangire Ecosystem.  Migrating animals gather here in the dry season for the water.

On the road today... to Tanzania... and Tarangire National Park.  We leave our drivers, Amos and Chege behind at the Tanzanian border, and Vincent and Ony take over as our drivers in Tanzania.

We were herded into a line at the border to show our passports, etc.  This rather severe and serious looking guy, the line monitor I guess, came over to Jan and I, looking his severe and serious self.  I thought uh-oh!  Maintaining that serious face, he said that Queens should go first.  Relieved and laughing, Jan and I switched places in line.

Like anywhere, the plein air markets are a hub of social as well as economic activity.

Lunch and Internet

A large, old Baobab Tree

Jumanne on a termite mound near our lodge...

They had some solar, but we still had to get our devices charged within a certain time-frame as some of the precious electricity was shut down overnight.

This time we had the Cape Buffalo tent...

With another outdoor shower...

Out my back door...

The water hole was just fifty yards from our back patio.

Out my back door...

Jan went on the animal viewing drive the next day, while I opted to stay back in camp...

They had a box lunch out on the animal viewing drive.  I was the only tourist left in camp, and received the royal treatment, including a nice young man bringing coffee, and this lunch, to me on my patio while I watched the critters at the watering hole... out my back door!

Another end to another wonderful day.  We try to do our traditional 'feet up' photos wherever we go.

Out our backdoor...
